Tuscany is the fifth largest region in Italy. Wedged deeply like a triangle in the heart of Italy, it constitutes a transitional, area between the Po Delta and Liguria, which are highly industrialized, and those Italian regions which are still principally agricultural. It stretches over the western side of the Apennines and includes the islands of the Tuscan archipelago. It lies on the sea to the west and south-west and borders with Liguria to the north-west, Emilia-Romagna to the north, the Marches and Umbria to the east, and Latium to the south-east.
Its limits are clearly defined to the north but less evident to the east, crossing the main ridge of the Tusco-Emilian Apennines and taking in the upper Val Tiberina, becoming even more uncertain to the south-east and south where they appear to be justified only for historical, linguistic and generally cultural reasons.

Pieve di San Bartolomeo, Castelnuovo Val di Cecina - Pisa in Toscana
La chiesa del castello di Leccia, che ha mantenuto intatto il suo aspetto medievale, è ricordata nel 1275 come rettoria della pieve di Morba. Ai primi del secolo XV risulta in possesso del fonte battesimale. Ha subito profonde modifiche che ne hanno alterato l’aspetto originario.
Al suo interno è custodita la tela raffigurante la “Madonna del Libro”, centro della devozione mariana nel territorio, attribuita a Matteo de’Gondi e qui trasportata nel 1958 dal suo santuario situato non lontano dal paese. Sul campanile a vela è collocata una campana dove è incisa la data del 1333 e una “Madonna che allatta il Bambino”, proveniente forse da un oratorio scomparso intitolato alla Madonna del Latte, che sorgeva vicino al paese, presso il corso del fiume Cornia nei pressi di una fonte detta “del Latte”, tuttora esistente.
