Situated in Mediterranean Europe, Italy has land frontiers with France in the north-west, Switzerland and Austria in the north and Slovenia in the north-east. There is a great deal of variety in the landscape in Italy, although it is characterized predominantly by two mountain chains: the Alps and the Apennines. The former extends over 600 miles from east to west. It consists of great massifs in the western sector, with peaks rising to over 14,000 feet, including Monte Bianco (Mont Blanc), Monte Rosa and Cervino (the Matterhorn). Evento Sportivo: Harlem Globetrotter: Firenze in Toscana
Dopo lo straordinario successo del New Millenium Tour 2005, i favolosi Harlem Globetrotters tornano sulla scena italiana nei prossimi mesi di maggio - giugno 2006. Napoli, Roma, Firenze, Biella e Milano saranno le tappe dell'Italian Tour 2006. La Shot Events nel 2005 ha riportato gli Harlem Globetrotters in Italia dopo un'assenza di quindici anni, e i numeri dicono molto sul sicuro "appeal" dello "spettacolo più bello del mondo": oltre ventimila sono state le presenze degli spettatori nei palazzetti sportivi, per un totale di 5 spettacoli in 5 città italiane nell'arco di una settimana! Il Tour 2006 sarà a Firenze presso il Mandela Forum il 31 maggio.
