Situated in Mediterranean Europe, Italy has land frontiers with France in the north-west, Switzerland and Austria in the north and Slovenia in the north-east. There is a great deal of variety in the landscape in Italy, although it is characterized predominantly by two mountain chains: the Alps and the Apennines. The former extends over 600 miles from east to west. It consists of great massifs in the western sector, with peaks rising to over 14,000 feet, including Monte Bianco (Mont Blanc), Monte Rosa and Cervino (the Matterhorn). Fobello, Musee Carestia Tirozzo- Vercelli en Piemonte
Une ancienne maison plongée dans la verdure de la Val Mastallone. Il ne pouvait pas y avoir de position meilleure pour un musée qui décrit avec des documents historiques et photographiques les figures de trois grands hommes, amants de la Valsesia et de la nature: l’abbé Carestia, le docteur Camillo Tirozzo et son fils, le professeur Pietro Ugo.
Capitale a été la générosité de ce dernier pour la fondation du musée, inauguré en 1993: il donna son habitation au CAI de Varallo afin que les salles fussent aménagées.
De grande importance, parmi les pièces exposées, le millier de documents originaux faisant partie de l’Herbier de l’abbé Carestia. L’activité de l’illustre botaniste de Riva Valdobbia est fondamentale pour toute la culture botanique de l’Italie.
