Situated in Mediterranean Europe, Italy has land frontiers with France in the north-west, Switzerland and Austria in the north and Slovenia in the north-east. The former extends over 600 miles from east to west. It consists of great massifs in the western sector, with peaks rising to over 14,000 feet, including Monte Bianco (Mont Blanc), Monte Rosa and Cervino (the Matterhorn). Servito alla temperatura ideale di 20° C., necessita di una moderata ossigenazione. Invecchiato almeno 2 anni, di cui 3 mesi in recipienti di legno a partire dal 1° ottobre dell'anno di raccolta delle uve, viene prodotto solo in annate di particolare pregio e conserva le migliori qualità per oltre 3-4 anni. Ideale con carni di selvaggina e brasati saporiti.
