Situated in Mediterranean Europe, Italy has land frontiers with France in the north-west, Switzerland and Austria in the north and Slovenia in the north-east. There is a great deal of variety in the landscape in Italy, although it is characterized predominantly by two mountain chains: the Alps and the Apennines. The former extends over 600 miles from east to west. It consists of great massifs in the western sector, with peaks rising to over 14,000 feet, including Monte Bianco (Mont Blanc), Monte Rosa and Cervino (the Matterhorn). The the chain is lower in the eastern sector, although the mountains, the Dolomites, are still of extraordinary beauty.

Piacenza in Emilia Romagna - L'anima del '900 nostalgia di speranza
La Diocesi di Piacenza - Bobbio, ha ricevuto in donazione dalla signora Rosa Domenica Mazzolini una grande collezione composta da 872 quadri e 27 sculture realizzate dal ghota dell'arte italiana tra il primo e l'ultimo decennio del secolo scorso. Opere pregevolissime, quasi tutte inedite, dei maggiori artisti di quel periodo tra i quali spiccano nomi importanti come De Chirico, Carrà, Cassinari, De Pisis, Fontana, Manzoni, Campigli, Capogrossi, Rosai, Sironi, Tosi e altri ancora.
Il meglio di queste opere sarà oggetto di un evento di livello nazionale, dal titolo "L'Anima del ''900 - Nostalgie di Speranza", che verrà inaugurato a Piacenza il 30 settembre prossimo e sarà fruibile fino al 5 febbraio 2007 nella stupenda cornice rinascimentale di Palazzo Farnese. Un evento espositivo che sarà accompagnato da un ciclo di convegni "collaterali" dove si parlerà, tra l'altro, anche del nutritissimo carteggio fra la collezionista e i "suoi" pazienti-artisti.
