Taufua Beach Fales
Address - Lalomanu, Aleipata
General Information
About one mile of shining sand, the blue lagoon, shining corals, some only a few feet from the shore, blue starfish and an endless variety of small and bigger fishes - paradise for divers and snorklers. A very special place for surfers too.
And - our Beach Fales. Shelter from the tropical sun, safe place to keep towels and other belongings. For a day trip, an overnight stay or even for a few days. We provide mats for the day, matresses, pillows, sheets and mosquito nets for the night.
Shower and toilet facilities nearby, a small store and restaurant, even an Internet Cafe provide you everything else you need for a relaxing time in paradise.
Stay for the day or even overnight, enjoy the unspoiled beauty of an unique location.
All fales are built in the traditional Samoan style of housing. A thatched roof on wooden posts, an elevated wooden floor. No walls - except you want them. Closed fales have a veranda and timber wall panels to provide shelter or privacy; open fales have tarpaulins to give protection from rainfall.
During the day woven mats are provided as floor cover; matresses, sheets, pillows and a mosquito net ensure your comfort as our overnight visitor.
As most flights arrive in the early hours of the morning, the easiest way to get to Taufua Beach Fales is to spend your first night in Apia. Catch the Airport Shuttle Bus into Apia Town for ST$8 per person (meets all international arrivals - 40-minutes in mini coach - driver will drop you at requested hotel). Once in Apia, the best way to get to Taufua is to take the Green Turtle Tour. Green Turtle are based in Apia and depart each day at 8am from the Travellers' Lounge, or organise for them to pick you up from your hotel. Simply purchase your travel pass which enables you to hop-on and hop-off the bus as many times as you like during your stay and take a scenic and educational tour en-route.
A taxi direct to Taufua from the International Airport will cost about ST$150 (takes 2 hours) and from Apia Town about ST$100. Car rental is not available at the international airport as a Samoan driving license is required - these are only available from the licensing office opposite the Police Station in Apia.
It is possible to get to Taufua by public bus. Unfortunately frequencies are limited to just one or two a day and there is no set timetable. Catching a local bus is a fun experience, but perhaps one best left when you don't have your luggage with you - seats are cramped and buses often full!
