Relais Torre Guelfa is a country hotel, but at Torre Guelfa this of course takes on another meaning. The hotel is divided into individual rooms furnished in elegant Tuscan style. Each room is different from the other, but all are equipped with the same full comfort facilities and charm. However the characteristic that sets the Relais apart from all other hotels, is that here you will feel as though you are staying at Claudio’s and Sabrina’s personal home. This means that more than clients, you will be treated as personal hosts of the Piantini family. Their warm and easy going nature will make you feel very much at ease, giving you an experience and emotions that are so different from what you find in other hotels. The Relais is situated in the countryside just outside of the historical centre of Figline Valdarno. It rises on a small hill near the home of the famous rock star Sting. On arrival you will be greeted by Sabrina in person, and while your baggage is being taken care of, you will sit and relax in the lounge of the main house while Sabrina pours you a refreshing glass of cool white wine. Then, when you are ready, you will be introduced to the comforts of your room

The success of Torre Guelfa derives from a long professional experience in the selection of typical and genuine foods, and the passion for harmonising flavours and ingredients. The banqueting hall staff and often Claudio himself, take great pride in greeting customers and creating a warm and friendly atmosphere. They will be most happy to help you with suggestions on the two “a la carte” menus, one for fish and the other for meat specialities. The sommelier will gladly propose the most suitable wine from the wine list, containing 1200 wines. To end your meal in the style that is unique to Torre Guelfa, your next choice can be from one or both of the well combined cheese and dessert lists. Of course the sommelier will be at hand to help you decide on the best the dessert wine or liqueur to make even the last part of your meal a perfect harmony of flavours
The main entrance of the Torre Guelfa Restaurant immediately gives the customer an insight into what to expect at the dinner table. Rows and rows of the finest wines are on display as a feast for the eyes, and later for the palate.

Depending on the day’s menu, the best accompanying wines will be suggested on the daily the wine list, but you are free to choose personally from the endless possibilities. The love for our Tuscan lands, and the Tuscan way of life are the basis on which Torre Guelfa Restaurant was created. To us this means the most refined surroundings but with the warmth and friendliness so typical of our people.Here he stayed for five satisfying years, but by this time Claudio now had the desire to run a restaurant all of his own. This desire brought him back to Figline his beloved home town, where he opened the Torre Guelfa Restaurant which rapidly became a meeting point for lovers of good food, and even other gourmet cooks.

Meeting many other professionals, Claudio’s personal know how also increased enormously; thanks to this, he received and accepted many invitations to cook in the US. He soon found himself passing on his techniques and tricks of the trade to other people, and the next step could only be the launching of cookery classes for both beginners and professionals, many of which from other countries and cultures. Although enjoying his international experiences immensley, Claudio’s love for his native land was ever present, and he nutured desires and dreams which would lead him to the next step in his career: the realization of his own farming estate, where he could grow the fresh biological products so important for his recipeis. He then surrounded himself in the kitchen with a merry crowd of young collaborators, such as Enrico and Sara, supported by Bruno “The Veteran” and by the young Nicola. Not forgetting his beginnings as a waiter, Claudio also pays particular attention to the banqueting hall where Antonio and Michela provide an excellent service and Francesco passionately takes care of the wine cellars.

 Location Description

We will travel along the Eastern side of the Arno Valley at the foot of the Pratomagno mountain range. Here we will be immersed in beautifully kept olive groves cultivated on terraced land. The terraces are held up by walls of stone built long ago giving the landscape a unique character. There are no large farming estates but each olive orchard and vineyard is owned by small landowners who take great pride in producing their own olive oil. We then head up into the mountains through woods of Oak, Beech, Pine and Chestnut which in a recent past were the main source of income for the mountain dwellers. Close the stupendous view over the valley, with the Chianti hills forming a distant horizon.
