Situated in Mediterranean Europe, Italy has land frontiers with France in the north-west, Switzerland and Austria in the north and Slovenia in the north-east. There is a great deal of variety in the landscape in Italy, although it is characterized predominantly by two mountain chains: the Alps and the Apennines. The former extends over 600 miles from east to west. It consists of great massifs in the western sector, with peaks rising to over 14,000 feet, including Monte Bianco (Mont Blanc), Monte Rosa and Cervino (the Matterhorn). Santuario della Madonna dell'Acqua, Cascina - Pisa in Toscana
La chiesa fu edificata tra il 1614 ed il 1619 su progetto di Iacopo Maruscelli con un’elegante struttura a pianta centrale a croce greca. I quattro bracci hanno prospetti esterni con timpano e coperture a capanna. Il breve campanile con cupoletta risale a ristrutturazioni settecentesche.
All’interno sono conservati un imponente altare maggiore con affresco staccato raffigurante la “Madonna col Bambino” risalente al secolo XVI e l’altare di San Rocco con una tela raffigurante il santo, eseguita in occasione della peste del 1630.
