Situated in Mediterranean Europe, Italy has land frontiers with France in the north-west, Switzerland and Austria in the north and Slovenia in the north-east. There is a great deal of variety in the landscape in Italy, although it is characterized predominantly by two mountain chains: the Alps and the Apennines. The former extends over 600 miles from east to west. It consists of great massifs in the western sector, with peaks rising to over 14,000 feet, including Monte Bianco (Mont Blanc), Monte Rosa and Cervino (the Matterhorn). Caves Museum, Fivizzano, Tuscany
The Caves Museum is a part of the Equi Caves Cultural Park . In the scenery of this village, at the foot of the Pizzo d’Uccello, we find the the Buca (the Pit) and the Equi Caves.
A multifaceted complex, created during the years by the water erosion, offers very suggestive small caves, narrow tunnels, halls, stalactites and stalagmites. In front of the Cave there is a Museum which allows the tourist to go back to the past of the Apuan Alps and Lunigiana territory.
An educational path which shows the natural history of locations and of the human presence in Equi. No windows full of objects, no never-ending panels but only the bear, the man, the environment and the life reconstructed with a scientific and educational attention
