General Information
Juniper Cottage is a traditional Hungarian country dwelling located on the edge of the Aggtelek National Park in the hills of north-east Hungary.
The park is a protected area of 20,000 hectares characterised by rolling hills of 160-600 metre altitudes, more than three-quarters of which are forested. It is most well known for its network of caves, which stretch into Slovakia and give the surrounding landscape its diversity, with rolling hills, springs, sinkholes and canyon-like valleys.
There is an abundance of wildlife to discover here, from indigenous wildflowers to butterflies and bird life. In recent decades, small populations of wolf and lynx have re-emerged, yet remain rarer still than the region’s elusive wild boars.
For its unique topography and biodiversity, the area is both a Biosphere Reserve and a World Heritage Site, as well as a super place to enjoy a memorable and relaxing holiday.
Situated on the edge of the national park, our guesthouse is your family or group’s very own place in the country, ideal for self-catering breaks. Two bedrooms sleep a maximum of six people.

Location Description
The guesthouse is located in a small, rural village amongst hills of around 400-600m altitudes, close to the border with Slovakia and 60km from Miskolc, Hungary's third-largest city. In the village itself are two shops, a church dating from the 12th century and a local inn. Farmyard birds and animals are often out in the street, and storks, frogs, eagles, woodpeckers, swallows, Fire Salamanders, lots of butterflies, an incredible variety of moths (despite the bats), foxes, pine martens, deer and (if you are very lucky), lynx, hoopoes, skink and Ural owls are just some of the special things you can see here.
