Rovereto Castle, Trentino
The prototype of a 15th century border fortress, Castel Veneto, located as it is where two valleys, the Terragnolo and the Adige, meet, was built essentially for war rather than as a residence.
In an excellent state of preservation, its halls now house the famous Historical War Museum, with an excellent collection of weapons of all ages, but in particular of the First World War period. Especially interesting in the artillery part set up in the old moat.
