Interesting sights to see in Campania
The rare beauty of its landscape, its artistic and cultural heritage and its cuisine and wines make Campania one of the most appreciated regions of Italy at home and abroad. Pizza, buffalo mozzarella and other cheeses, along with sweets like the "pastiera" (traditional Easter cake) and "sfogliatelle" (ricotta-filled pastry) are some of the best loved local dishes.
Crafts in the area include coral and mother of pearl jewellery, wood carving, painted ceramics and precious textiles, as well as the classic Neapolitan nativity scene, a tradition handed down through the generations in the workshops in Via San Gregorio Armeno. Among the favourite tourist stops is the Crypt of San Gennaro inside the Naples Cathedral, which houses phials of the Saint's congealed blood; the "miracle" by which the saint's blood turns to liquid takes place two or three times a year.
