Italy - Information on San Leucio del Sannio in the Province of Benevento
San Leucio del Sannio lies in one of the most fertile hill areas in the Sannio. Its economy is characterized by tobacco-growing and vineyards.
We do not have data about the first settlement, but a document from the 11th century attests that the place was known as Casale dei Collinari. Only starting from the 17th century it was called San Leucio de Collinis. In 1860 San Leucio obtained its own municipal administration and, in 1928 by royal decree, it obtained the appellation of “Del Sannio”.
