Italy - Information on Castelpto in the Province of Benevento
The town of Castelpoto is situated in an enchanting olive- and vineyard landscape. Well-grouned information about the origins of the built-up area goes back to the first half of the 12th century. It was afeud of Della Leonessa family, who received it from the Angevins, it passed afterwards on to the Caracciolo family and finally to the Bartoli family. Self-governing municipality since 1811 following to the abolition of feudalism, it joined the province of Benevento in 1861, on the unity of Italy.
