La vieille ville en Livorno - Toscane
Le quartier pittoresque de la Nouvelle Venise, réalisé dans le courant du XVII siècle, conserve aujourd’hui encore sa physionomie d’origine: les fossés moyenâgeux sont particulièrement évocateurs, un dense réseau de canaux navigables qui reliait les magasins et les habitations des commerçants, qui comme à Venise ont des fondations et des entrées sur l’eau, accédant à des entrepôts, autrefois destinés au stockage des marchandises.
On peut encore admirer en se promenant le long de la rue "Via Borra", leurs architectures élégantes.
Ce quartier regorge d’édifices religieux et civils, comme les Bottini dell’Olio (fossés de l’huile), de très beaux magasins aux plafonds voûtés, utilisés pour conserver l’huile et datant du XVIII siècle.
On peut encore admirer la structure toute particulière de la place “Piazza della Repubblica”, qui n’est autre qu’un pont de facture admirable recouvrant une large portion du canal navigable.
