Churches and Monasteries in Marradi in Mugello near Florence
Chiesa del Suffragio (Church of Suffrage): Located next to Palazzo Fabbroni. Inside are impressions of the 18th century.
Chiesa di San Lorenzo (Church of St. Lorenzo): Plates attributed to “Maestro da Marradi” are found inside.
Monastero delle Domenicane della SS. Annunziata (Domenican Monastery of the SS.Annunziata): Built in 1575 by the Fabbroni family.
Abbazia di Santa Reparata (Abbey of Santa Reparata)(Badia del Borgo): An important monastic complex dating back to 1050. It belonged to the Benedictine Order and later to the Vallombrosian Order. It was restored in baroque style in 1741-1765. The massive bell tower on a square plan maintains the Romanic style. The stone facade of the church is simple; the inside is baroque and full of light. Paintings by the “Maestro da Marradi” (late 1400’s, of the Ghirlandaio school) are preserved in the sacresty.
Chiesa di Santa Maria di Crespino (Church of St. Mary di Crespino): Mentioned in 1097, for some time it was under the Order of Vallombrosa.
Eremo di S. Barnaba di Gamogna (Hermitage of S.Barnaba di Gamogna): Founded by S.Pier Damiano in 1053, it belonged to the Order of Camaldolesi.
