Vibo Valenita in Calabria

Vibo Valentia district was born recently from the division of Catanzaro district and covers an area of 7.6% of Calabrian territory. It includes 50 towns. The territory enjoies an extraordinary patrimony made of natural beauties, millenary history, culture, traditions, elements which are the fruit of a splendid weaving of artistic and architectural beauties. They are typical on the one hand of the refined taste of an aristocratic pursuit, and on the other of the folk characteristics lots of people call "arte povera" (country art), which have the fascination that only certain qualities can show.

Since the district extends between the Tyrrhenian sea and the Mountains of the Serre, it still preserves the fascination of variety and purity of the surrounding. It offers to the sightseers a fantastic riot of lights and colours, surroundings and sights, scents and tastes, and a sea whose waves have baptized myths and history. Here you can walk about the unique characteristic golden beaches from Pizzo to Capo Vaticano and Nicotera, with Tropea which is known all over the world as the "Pearl of the Tyrrhenian sea", the real capital of seaside tourism: you can admire the Serre Mountains, with the woods of Mongiana, the naturalistic oasis of Angitola, the mystical places of Serra S. Bruno Charterhouse, the Dominican Monastery of Soriano and the Bishop's Seminary of Mileto.

Everything is enriched with the numerous art works you can see in several museums among which we suggest: Vibo Valentia, Mileto, Monterosso, Nicotera, Pizzo, Serra S. Bruno, Soriano; also the castles and the noble mansions are interesting as they witness a history rich of glorious moments. We cannot forget to point out the numerous occasions of folk culture appointments, most of all in summer, made up of a long series of "sagre" and patronal festivals, which follow one another all over the place, where you can enjoy the fun and the typical Calabrian hospitality.
