Destination: DUMBEA: Railway lines and the Dumbéa train.

Governor Feillet inaugurated the beginning of the line on 17 August 1902.

The first section was initiated on 20 December 1904 with a Noumea-Dumbéa service which took 40 minutes.

The train comprised 2 locomotives, 3 wagons, 1 baggage car and 10 goods wagons to transport merchandise.

The Noumea Paita line opened on 03 December 1914 covering the 29km journey in 1h15.

In November 1939, the General Council decided to bring a halt to the train network citing a large deficit, low traffic levels and inferior equipment.

The little train whose role initially was to transport both people and goods to Bourail in fact only travelled to Paita to transport the local people of Noumea on their Sunday outings rather than genuine passengers.
